Event Details

Attention party people!  We are taking it back to the old school!  Get your legwarmers out of storage, practice your moonwalk and french roll those jeans!  Cause for a Dance Party will be hosting an 80's and 90's dance party in honor of The Reading Connection (http://www.thereadingconnection.org) at the Darlington House in Dupont Circle.  Dance the night away with us for a great cause.

The low down:  The Reading Connection is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children and families by helping them create and sustain literacy-rich environments and motivation for reading.  This mission is accomplished by:
-Volunteers who read aloud to children at shelters and community centers
-Donations that provide children with free, new books to keep
-Workshops that help parents encourage reading and literacy development
-Trainings of family support workers who promote the importance of reading

Party Details:

-Drink specials to help get people on the dancefloor

-DJ Random is takin' it back to the Old School - 80's and 90's people!  New Wave to Classic Hip Hop and everything in between

-Did I mention there's a disco ball?!

-It is free to RSVP, $5 minimum donation at the door

-All door proceeds go directly to The Reading Connection

-The party will be located in their Library room on the second floor

 Come out and show your support and have a great time in the process!

John Chu, a DC based dance instructor has decided to donate his skills in teaching dance moves from Michael Jackson's Beat It video to anyone interested in learning it.  The lesson will be between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM....dance off to follow with prizes for best dancer.  In the meantime, check out John in action at one of our previous dance parties:  YouTube

About the instructor: John Chu danced professionally in New York City and was taught by one of Michael Jackson’s choreographers. John recently helped teach the Thriller for the Guinness World Record-breaking Thrill the World event and brings a fun, enthusiastic style to his teaching.

-Extremely Metro Accessible: The Darlington House is located about 50 feet from the Dupont Circle North Exit (Red Line)

-Valet parking - Saturday $8

-Colonial Parking Lot behind PNC Bank entrance between DuPont Circle and Massachusetts Ave

Cause for a Dance Party was founded to combine nightlife and charitable giving. We plan to host several parties per year at venues across the Washington DC area. The goal is to have a great time and raise money and awareness about various charities in the process.
